Veneers
Misshaped, uneven, stained, or chipped teeth affect more than just your appearance. The unevenness can present speech problems and low self-esteem. University Family Dental Studio provides many ways to improve the appearance of your smile and the function of your mouth.
One method of covering these problems is placing veneers on the teeth for a more uniform look. Veneers are custom-made thin shells of tooth-colored material that are bonded directly over the front of the teeth. The color is matched exactly to the color of the other teeth. The veneer changes the shape, length, and size of the tooth, making the row of teeth look natural and pleasing.
Veneers are ordered in one of two materials. Both are easy to color-match with the teeth. Porcelain veneers are stronger and will last longer but are also more expensive. Composite resin veneers are more economical and may require replacement over time. Fortunately, replacement is an easy process.
Veneers do not require as much preparation for application as other methods of restoration. Less enamel needs to be removed. The front of the tooth is roughened slightly to allow the adhesive to hold the veneer to the tooth permanently.
